Nubia Rahim is a young talented filmmaker with a knack for telling stories about the under privileged and downtrodden – everyday people who live courageously. Ms. Rahim started writing screenplays when her oldest brother died in ashooting accident. Using a script from one of Spike Lee’s books, she studied the screenwriting format and began penning stories. She signed onto IMAGE, a non-profit program dedicated to enhancing minority interaction with media. Having just missed the current deadline, she was accepted into the program for the following year. Not yet 16, Nubia successfully produced, directed and edited her first short film and was even awarded Best Original Screenplay Award (IMAGE 2003). She returned to the program year after year, becoming a mentor to other students and was exclusively selected as one of three out of twenty young Atlanta delegates to attend the 2003 Sundance Film Festival. In 2004, she received the Best Cinematography award from IMAGE and a few months later she was ecstatic to receive the HBO Beah Richards Women of the Year award. Simultaneously she was involved with Art’s Cool, a summer program where she penned a PSA, to be aired on ABC and PBS alongside making her first TV interview debut in March of 2002.Although the journey has not been smooth, Nubia has pursued her passion to tell the stories of weaker voices. website: www.LilOsiris.com
